QUICKBOOKS VS CRE VS WASP VS ETC
« on: August 30, 2008, 08:04:46 PM »
I am representing a small retail grocery (with a fresh meat department) and I am attempting to purchase a pos system (hardware and software). We have been notified that Quickbooks POS software is not ideal for a grocery but have been eyeing Wasp and other softwares such as Cash register express (deemed to be the most ideal candidate for a grocery). I need to know based on your experience - which software would you recommend that has an easy to use interface for older people who are less familiar with technology. I have been eyeing a system on posnation.com, the standard edition, what do you think

Thank you in advance for your time...

A company called RDS (retail data systems) in the midwest seems to be super popular and very good. I would like to know more though.

If you are a small grocery, CRE will probably be a great and inexpensive choice.  If you have 5 or 6 lanes, sell wholesale to restaurants, or have other simliar complexities, then you will need a POS that is a step more robust.   We have clients in both categories and try to help them understand the pros and cons of an entry level system (like CRE) and a more powerful system (like CounterPoint).  I agree... Quickbooks POS would not be ideal.

Good luck!
