error initialization server ip
« on: February 15, 2011, 03:42:26 PM »
Re: PC Charge Payment server accessed via The General Store (TGS) POS v 8.0.

I have been getting the error initialization server ip since I "upgraded" to version PCC 5.8.3.

the error occurs randomly. logging in to PCC and redoing the transaction will work (but raises suspicion from the customer).

I have a new Router(netgear fvs318 v3 w/ updated firmware as of 2.14.11) UPSs on the server, register, router/modem.
The router is not wireless.

The server & router are powered up 24/7. the register is shutdown every night.
All systems are running Windows XP Professional sp3

Any Ideas on how to eliminate this error?

Thank You
Arthur

Are you running any software firewall? Any ports blocked on the firewall? One quick way to test the closed port theory would be to open the IP of the PC-Charge server to DMZ which would unblock all ports.

Turn off the windows firewall. You are behind a router which has a much better hardware firewall built in.

The error has happened again. :(

I looked at the PCC Errlog,
There are two types of errors listed,
1) #10054 "The virtual circuit was reset by the remote side executing a 'hard' .... close........." This one seems to coincide with the "Error initialization ....." Requiring me to restart and log in to PCC.

2) #10053 "An established connection was aborted by the software in your host machine,
possibly due to a data transmission timeout or protocol error ......" This error seems to coincide with the successful credit card transactions, and apparently is not a problem ?

Thanks
Arthur

Another tidbit.

Today after the error, I retried the card (via POS) without re logging in at the server, and the transaction went through.

My goal is to run the cards with only one swipe.

This is a really odd one. I will ask around.

Is it possible the anti virus software is causing these intermittent errors?
