POS suggestions for non-standard flower shop
« on: September 01, 2010, 10:14:00 AM »
Hello everyone. great forum with a lot of useful information.

I own a flower shop which runs a little differently than most others I've visited.  We have a lot of walk-in customers that request custom arrangements that are made while you wait.  Drop down menu type of POS systems, such as Quickbooks POS, is really slowing down the checkout process.  I was looking for a restaurant style POS software with "buttons" but not specific to restaurants or at least customizable.  It would be great if it also had a delivery module.  Any suggestions?

Interesting, I wonder if a pizza type restaurant system would fit! You could have flowers like toppings to build your bouquet (sp) and delivery modules usually are part of them. Let's see what others say...

Thats exactly how we work! I've tried a few pos's but they're too specific to restaurants like table arrangements and such.  Any suggestions?

Well if you are thinking about a commercial POS then there are quite a few very flexible and sophisticated like counter point POS, Quick books POS and then microsoft one.
If you want a free one and open source then php pos is the best bet.
