activate new magnetic card

Hi:
I need help trying to activate a magnetic card. I go to "Edit Employee ID" and enter a new ID and password and then swipe the card but nothing happens, the card remains blank. Am I missing a step?

You have done the same before and it worked? Or is this a new install?

Could be a bad mag card, could be a bad mag card reader.
Do you have more than one workstation?
Does it read other cards - credit, gift, employee?
I know this sounds silly, but have you rebooted the workstation and cleaned the card reader?
Also, is this a Micros Eclipse workstation? If so, try unplugging and replugging the mag card reader after a reboot.
