Remote Mag Card Reader
« on: December 10, 2009, 08:13:31 PM »
I have an 8700 system with UWS3's and the mag readers are going bad. I talked to my Micros consultant who sent me a remote mag card reader with instructions to hook it up. I went into the workstation configuration and enabled the keyboard remote mag card reader and enabled track 1. I then made sure the PC keyboard type was set to AT. Went into diagnostics and got a valid read on track 2 for the mag card. Started the terminal back up and got "Mag card is the wrong type" error message on sign in. I can get a CC auth with no problem, just won't recognize the Micros employee card. Any ideas?

Sounds like only one track is enabled. Make sure both are operating correctly.

Diagnostics on the workstation show valid read on both tracks while swiping a CC so track 1 and 2 both are showing "valid read"

Sorry, I am not familier with the employee cards... Are those on one of the two tracks? Or are those on track 3?
